Ever since we gazed opon Cheyenne crossing I knew there would be a tough journy ahead. Moving through the blistering hot desert quikly parched everyone in our wagontrain. Our water suplies are near empty and we still have 5 days until we get through the desert. The devil's flat has an apropriot name. All there was was sand; as far as the eye could see. touching the scorched sand burnt any bare skin, and dry waterholes are plentyful. We also have many of our livestock dieing. The only way to get through it is to tough it out and depend mostly on luck and knowledge. The Oregon trail has brought much misiry, but it will soon be less. Oregon city is almost near.

Diary Entry III: Devil's flat
